The fun of Fridays on the Lawn continues this fall with a live music series featuring local artist performances on AMFA’s Event Lawn.
Bring a blanket to relax and enjoy this special night of music, drinks, and food with friends and family in the park.
This week’s performer is Funkanites.
Funkanites is an eight-piece Little Rock, Arkansas-based ensemble. They can handle any genre thrown at them; however, their focus is heavily on late ‘60s and ‘70s Afrobeat, soul, and funk with a contemporary spin on the genres.
Big bombastic horn lines are the norm, as well as an airtight rhythm section that stretches and sews the pocket, but never leaves it. They are ambassadors of music that is not so readily available in a live setting today.
Founded in 2010 by core members of Amasa Hines—Judson Spillyards, Ryan Hitt, and Norman Williamson—Funkanites comprises world-class musicians who are no strangers to the major festival scene. Major festivals performed within the experience of these musicians include Austin City Limits, Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo, and SXSW to name a few.
They are set to release an EP of original instrumental music late summer/early fall ‘23.
Picnic Experiences
Elevate your experience at Fridays on the Lawn with a pop-up picnic! Picnic VIPs enjoy reserved prime seating on the lawn with a cozy blanket and picnic spread complete with food and beverage service.
Each picnic experience includes:
- Park Grill’s fan-favorite pretzel charcuterie board and other assorted small bites
- A bottle of wine and souvenir wine glasses
- Additional food and beverages available for purchase from your dedicated server
Picnic experiences are $175 for members or $195 for non-members for each group reservation, with a minimum of two guests and maximum of four guests.

Please note coolers, lawn chairs, and any outside food or beverages are not permitted.
