Filmland: Arkansas – Shorts Block 1

The Arkansas Cinema Society and The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts are proud to present a special event featuring a selection of feature films and documentaries from this year’s Filmland: Arkansas program.

For the first block of short films, audiences can enjoy screenings of Legacy: Black Excellence in Jonesboro and Racer’s Nature: Trial By Fire.

Legacy: Black Excellence in Jonesboro

Runtime: 27 minutes

Created by a group of students from Arkansas State University, Legacy: Black Excellence in Jonesboro is a short documentary about the history of Black excellency in Jonesboro. It consists of interviews with Roger McKinny and LaGanzle Kale and other community members offering first hand accounts and historical research all dedicated to displaying the contributions and excellency of the local Black community, and their hopes and vision for the future.

Racer’s Nature: Trial By Fire

Runtime: 28 minutes

This intense and captivating documentary follows a son’s relentless journey to surpass his father’s legendary track record. Through exhilarating races, personal sacrifices, and emotional struggles, we witness the unyielding pursuit of greatness and the complex dynamics of family ties. Brace yourself for a high-octane exploration of ambition, rivalry, and the pursuit of breaking boundaries in the world of motorsports.
