Dance & Draw Workshop with Ballet Arkansas

Join Ballet Arkansas Company Artist Lauren Yordanich and AMFA’s Windgate Art School Instructor Michael Lierly for an engaging workshop that combines movement and drawing!

These distinguished artists will collaborate to lead students through a guided exploration of motion and drawing. Students will discover techniques that capture the energy and flow on paper.

Workshop participants will receive 15% off tickets to see Ballet Arkansas’s Nouveau and Midsummer Night’s Dream at AMFA, April 25-27, 2025.

About Lauren Yordanich

Lauren Yordanich started dancing with Dance Arts of Chelsea in Michigan and later began performing with Ballet Chelsea, under the direction of Wendi DuBois. Lauren furthered her training by attending summer programs at Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Cecchetti Council of America, and Ballet West where she worked with choreographer Quinn Wharton.

Prior to Ballet Arkansas, Lauren danced as a trainee with Grand Rapids Ballet. During which time Lauren worked with choreographers including Val Caniparoli, Penny Saunders, Brian Enos, Attila Mosolygo, and Olivier Wevers.

Since joining Ballet Arkansas in 2019, Lauren has performed works by Yury Yanowsky, Yoshito Sakuraba, Madison Falconer, and fellow company artists, Meredith Loy and Matt Larson-Arziari. A few recent and memorable featured roles performed by Lauren have been Sugarplum Fairy and Dew Drop in Michael Fothergill’s The Nutcracker, Lucy in Dracula, Aurora and Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty and Gerald Arpino’s Reflections.

About Michael Lierly

Michael Lierly is an accomplished artist specializing in oil painting and illustration. He currently teaches figurative drawing at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts and foundational art studio courses at the University of Central Arkansas.

Michael’s extensive teaching experience spans institutions such as the Herron School of Art, the University of Arkansas, Indiana University, and various programs in Southern California, as well as an international teaching stint in Florence, Italy.

He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Indiana University in Bloomington.

Windgate Art School’s Reduced Tuition Program is supported by Michael Laughter. Reduced tuition is automatically applied on all classes through 2025.
