Cyrille Aimée, known worldwide as a remarkable interpreter of jazz steeped in French tradition, has taken her musical journey from France to New York and New Orleans. Her latest album, A Fleur de Peau marks a significant shift, presenting Cyrille’s original compositions in collaboration with New York multi-instrumentalist Jake Sherman.
Drawing from her Dominican heritage and personal experiences, the album showcases Cyrille’s most original and personal work yet. The album’s genesis in Costa Rica during a transformative period of Cyrille’s life led to a creative rebirth as a songwriter. Amidst the jungle’s inspiration, she gained confidence, designing and building a house and crafting new songs. Working closely with Sherman, Cyrille recorded live performances, adding layers of arrangement, resulting in a diverse yet honest collection of songs.
With themes ranging from personal experiences to bilingual tributes to New Orleans, A Fleur de Peau embodies Cyrille’s intimate yet universally relatable musical journey, inspiring creativity and connection.
